Financial Controller – Association Management Company (Accounts Payable & Receivable)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join our Association Management team, responsible for overseeing the accounts payable and receivable functions. Additionally, this role requires expertise in unionized reporting and collective agreement interpretation. The ideal candidate should possess proficiency in QuickBooks, the Microsoft Suite, and other relevant qualifications, along with a strong background in financial management.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the daily operations of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.

Utilize expertise in unionized reporting and collective agreement interpretation to accurately reflect financial data and adhere to labour-related financial requirements.

Reconcile financial discrepancies by thoroughly investigating and resolving any discrepancies or variances in financial documentation and transactions.

Monitor and manage cash flow, maintaining appropriate working capital levels to support the financial stability of the organization.

Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements, reports, and forecasts, providing strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance.

Collaborate closely with the CEO to develop, monitor, and manage budgets, offering financial guidance and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Maintain precise and up-to-date financial records, ensuring strict compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and relevant regulations.

Conduct regular internal audits to guarantee the integrity and accuracy of financial information, and provide necessary guidance for improvements.

Prepare comprehensive financial reports for board meetings and other stakeholders, presenting complex financial information clearly and concisely.

Play a pivotal role in the preparation of annual audits and tax filings, ensuring adherence to timelines and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience (5+ years) as a Financial Controller or a similar role, preferably within association management or a related industry with unionized reporting responsibilities.

Proficiency in QuickBooks and the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is essential.

In-depth understanding of financial principles, practices, regulations, and unionized reporting requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with meticulous attention to detail.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse departments and stakeholders.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.

Proven leadership and team management capabilities.

Familiarity with relevant accounting software and ERP systems.
