Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc. (MCAF) is seeking an IT Instructor & IT User Support and we would like to hear from you!

The IT Instructor & IT User Support will works as part of the IT team and support the smooth operation of the Newcomer Computer Learning (NCL) Centre . The NCL Centre provides newcomers with access to computers with high-speed Internet, computer applications and English/French tutorials; basic computer training; specialized computer training for students participating in language classes at MCAF and computer maintenance assistance. They will diagnose, repair and maintain hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems.
The IT Instructor &IT User Support will provide guidance and support to newcomer clients, such as use of computers, various computer applications and provide computer and digital literacy training. They will support the specialized computer training for students participating in language classes at MCAF. They will provide technical support for Canadian English Language
Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) and perform other IT related duties as needed.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
• Maintain regular day-to-day function of the NCLC, including troubleshoot
(hardware/software) computers and printers;
• Ensure hardware components of the computer systems have updated software and are regularly flashed and cleaned;
• Manage inventory and control needs; repair or replace damaged hardware as needed;
• Provide digital literacy classes to newcomer clients;
• Develop educational tutorials related to digital communication tools and basic technological tools;
• Communicate effectively technical concepts to a varied audience;
• Work with Windows server 2012 R2 to maintain access and permission for staff and conduct daily backup operations;
Requirements:
• Bachelor degree of Computer Science or Equivalent college diploma in information system technology or similar fields in combination with relevant experience
• Expertise in facilitating group sessions & delivering digital literacy presentations
• Practical knowledge of Desktop Imaging and working with server 2012 R2
• Minimum technical certifications in one or more of A+, Network+, Security+ certifications
• Basic knowledge of programming in one or more of PHP, SQL or HTML
• Ability to investigate and troubleshoot network issues related to services such as DHCP and DNS
• Microsoft Office Suite knowledge and troubleshooting; antivirus software, firewalls, and other IT security components
• Effective multitasking, priority setting and time management skills
• Highly proficient with technologies including MS Office Applications, Google Drive and Google Docs
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an IT support technician or IT related jobs
• 1 year experience in a multicultural environment and cross cultural awareness
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills
• Flexible, patient and interested in helping others
• Proven ability to work well under pressure; outgoing
• Strong time management and organization skills
• Proven strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
• Strong ability to work in team and independently; maintain a supportive team environment Terms of employment:
• Contract – renewable pending continuation of funding
• Full time 30- 40 hrs per week- Health benefits, RSP, additional vacation/sick days
• Criminal Record Check Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
