Dear Jenica:

Re: Congratulations!

On behalf of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce board of directors and our 1,000+ member businesses and organizations, congratulations on your recent appointment as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services.

We know that supporting Indigenous communities is a personal passion of yours and this appointment is well-deserved. Since being first elected, you have been an active and accessible member of parliament for Fredericton and the chamber appreciates the work you do for our community every day. This new role represents a natural and well-suited progression in your parliamentary career and dovetails nicely with your current position as the Chair of the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs.

We look forward to speaking with you further at our next meeting about the work of our Indigenous Partnerships Committee, which is hosting an economic reconciliation event on September 21st at Planet Hatch. We will also soon begin to plan our second annual Indigenous Business Forum in partnership with JEDI. Our committee and the 2022 forum aimed to: (a) to create more opportunities for connections and collaborations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, (b) to educate attendees about some of the unique challenges faced by Indigenous entrepreneurs, and (c) use this information to explore what is needed to organically create more partnerships and opportunities collectively. You can read more about the event on our website here

Again, congratulations on your new role and we look forward to speaking soon about advancing economic reconciliation in our community.

Sincerely,

Krista Ross, CEO, Fredericton Chamber of Commerce
