Interview with Jennifer Rose, Exclusive Events

Can you tell us about your business?

My business began in 2009 which started as a hobby and quickly became my passion resulting in my full-time career. I’m an accredited event designer, WPICC certified wedding planner, and a wedding floral specialist.  We service all of NB.

What does your business do? What products and services do you offer?

Exclusive Events is a wedding and event design company offering an extensive decor inventory that caters to Galas, Weddings, Proms, Tradeshows, Holiday Decor, and baby showers. We rent everything from decor, tables, chairs, fresh and silk floral and trade show pipe and drape.

Tell me about your clientele.

We have a wide range of clientele from event planners, corporations, venues and engaged couples.

How may staff do you employ?

We employ 7-10 part-time employees throughout the year.

Is your business involved in any community activities or organizations?

Throughout the years I have donated my time and resources to The Children’s Wish Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors, Philanthropy in Action, Fredericton Food Bank, Fredericton Homeless Shelters and so many more important causes.

Can you tell me about one of the most rewarding experiences you’ve had while working for your business?

The most rewarding part of my business is seeing the faces of my clients when we turn their vision into reality on their special day.

What are you most proud of in your business?

I am most proud of my amazing staff, and our ability to collaborate, resulting in ideas that put a smile on our clients’ faces. We also repurpose the fresh floral from events by donating arrangements to retirement homes throughout the Fredericton area whenever possible.

Has your business won any awards?

I have been recognized for my support of various charities over the years.

What kind of challenges have you experienced in your business and how were you able to overcome them?

Covid was the most challenging time we have ever encountered, 95% of our events were postponed for almost a year and a half. We were able to overcome this by creating smaller packages to adhere to Health Canada restrictions.

What sets you apart from your competition?

Our elaborate designs and vast inventory set us apart from others in our industry. I have over 15 years of experience in the industry and strong working relations with venues in Fredericton and surrounding areas which help to facilitate a seamless set up of events.

What is the biggest risk facing your business in your business or industry?

I feel the biggest risk to this industry and in particular brides and grooms is the lack of certification and/or training. I strongly believe in supporting small businesses starting, but I have seen too many in this industry fail due to lack of training, and most times it’s couples on or leading up to their wedding day that are affected.

What is next for your business?

We are working on various large-scale events and can’t wait to have our hard work come together.
