Description: Reporting to the Manager of the Tourism Division, the incumbent will promote, sell and develop the City of Fredericton as a tourism destination, working as part of a team of coordinators.
This position will have a special focus on digital media, writing, and website management. The incumbent will work closely with tourism industry partners to attract visitors to Fredericton. In addition, the position will also work with the Recreation Division. Ability to multi-task with an attention to detail is essential.
Responsibilities:
? Destination marketing of Fredericton.
? Promote, sell and develop the City of Fredericton as a tourism destination, working as part of a team of coordinators.
? Develop, implement, and manage our digital strategy.
? Responsible for websites oversite and functionality.
? Create, manage and oversee social media content creation on owned and paid marketing channels, including cross-collaboration with influencers online and other innovative approaches.
? Stay up to date with the most current digital media best practices and technologies.
? Manage the production of on-brand social content and enticing positive engagement and brand affinity.
? Long and short form copywriting as it relates to the digital space, including web copy, content and ad creative.
? .Performing related duties as assigned. Work also involves identifying, coordinating and assisting with tourism initiatives.
The incumbent will primarily be working in a team environment however they will also be required to exercise considerable independent judgement, initiative and creativity, and be able to deal effectively with the Public and the tourism industry in a professional, courteous and tactful manner.
Irregular hours, travel and overtime are required on occasion. Performing related duties as assigned. Over time, the tasking and duties of tourism individual coordinators in the team may change within the destination marketing and product development mandate of the Tourism Division.
Position Specifications Education and Experience:
? Graduation from University or post-secondary institution in marketing, business administration, arts or tourism and five years’ experience as a Social Media Manager with proven ability to run large scale social campaigns.
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and academic training will also be considered.
? Experience in tourism-based sales and promotions and/or tourism-based customer service.
? Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter & Instagram and other social media best practices and KPIs,
Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics.
? Will possess extensive knowledge of the tourism industry, marketing, development, research, sales, public relations, literature production, and other principles involved in attracting visitors and groups to Fredericton.
? Experience in communications and marketing, especially digital marketing, press release writing and media relations.
? Experience in event planning and execution an asset; Supervisory experience. Knowledge and Desired Skills
? The ability to communicate (verbal & written) in both official languages is strongly desired.
? A thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, methods and equipment.
? Must possess the ability to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate projects; the ability to interpret and analyze proposals and statistical reports and the ability to project a professional image.
? The ability to develop a budget and marketing plan for required sales activities and other tourism projects as assigned.
? Highly motivated, with an ability to lead a team and develop consensus among industry stakeholders.
? Problem solving ability – the skill to identify issues or problems and develop strategies and opportunities to resolve them.
