The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Student Engagement Coordinator with Academic Support, Student Services. This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $45,395-$56,751 per annum.
The Student Engagement Coordinator promotes student success and fosters student engagement with university programs and activities through orientation and transition initiatives; the development, promotion, and ongoing management of the Co-Curricular Program (CCP) on the Fredericton Campus, and support for student event planning and risk management.
POSITION SUMMARY:
• Collaborate with others on campus to develop, implement, and evaluate campus-wide academic and social orientation initiatives that ease the transition of new students and their supporters into UNB.
• Coordinate program development and provide day-of event support.
• Act as manager to the Student Union Orientation Chair and advisor to Student Union Orientation executive and supervise their orientation programming initiatives.
• Develop, evaluate, and manage the Co-Curricular Program (CCP).
• Develop and populate the CPP activities database, program promotion, program assessment, communications with stakeholders, and recognition of students’ achievements through the CCP.
• Work with CCP advisory committee to develop CCP governance policies and procedures.
• Work with the Student Event Risk Management (SERM) committee to develop student event risk management governance policies and procedures and communicate required processes and event planning resources.
• Produce materials and disseminate information through social media and other means that promotes services and resources available to students. Ensure timely, helpful response to inquiries and requests.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise student staff representative of the student body to support department programs. Design and instruct training curriculum, delegate, and manage student workload. Create an environment focused on leadership development.
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
• Undergraduate degree with 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide information, produce correspondence, and craft marketing materials including web content and newsletters in a clear and effective manner.
• Experience and a high degree of comfort with a full suite of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Forms, Planner, and SharePoint.
• Experience in independent research, gathering/analyzing data, summarizing, creating reports & recommending solutions.
• Demonstrated judgement and decision-making skills to independently and effectively make decisions impacting department and campus-wide programs, policies, and financial responsibility.
• Experience with project management.
• Able to connect naturally with a wide variety of people, foster collaborative relationships, and contribute to a positive working environment.
• Displays appreciation for and recognizes value of different opinions, roles, experiences, cultures, and backgrounds.
• A detail-oriented, organized professional who is self-motivated and able to deliver high quality results under pressure, firm deadlines, and often evolving priorities.
• A naturally curious, collaborative professional with an interest in trying new ways of doing things, adopting new technologies, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.
• Knowledge of student development theory, peer-based programs, first-year experience, and student engagement is desirable.
