Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Announces Event Vaccination Policy Ahead of State of the City Address on October 7, 2021

25 August 2021 (FREDERICTON)

For Immediate Release

Today the Fredericton Chamber is announcing its event vaccination policy ahead of resuming in-person events in the fall.

Beginning September 1, 2021 attendees at Fredericton chamber events must attest that they have received two doses of a Health Canada-approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to the event (or have a written medical exemption).

“Organizations are still learning to navigate returning to some of their normal operations while being cognizant of the remaining threat of COVID-19,” said Fredericton chamber president, Jeff Saunders. “It’s clear that the pandemic is not over and our first priority must be protecting our members, staff and other guests at our events.”

The chamber’s first major in-person event since the beginning of the pandemic is planned to be the State of the Address with Mayor Kate Rogers on October 7, 2021 at the Crowne Plaza Fredericton.

“By making this announcement today our intention is to give people interested in attending the State of the City Address or future chamber events enough time to be fully vaccinated if they have not yet done so,” added chamber CEO Krista Ross. “Best practices regarding hosting events are still emerging and the chamber will continue to be a leader in this ongoing process and encourages all New Brunswickers to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

Similarly, individuals attending an in-person meeting at the chamber of commerce office must also attest that they have received two doses of a Health Canada-approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to the event (or have a written medical exemption). A virtual option will be offered for individuals that have not received two doses or who otherwise wish attend virtually.

Visitors who may be attending a brief impromptu or non-scheduled meeting in a chamber office space, will be asked to either wear a face mask or attest to their vaccination status – that is, having received two doses of a Health Canada-approved vaccine (or have a written medical exemption) at least 14 days prior to entering a chamber office space. A form will be provided for the attestation.
