We invite you to apply for fifteen (15) month contract position as Communications and Marketing Specialist at Kings Landing, a world-class living history museum located on the Saint John River and one of the top visitor attractions in New Brunswick.

Operated by Kings Landing Corporation, Kings Landing was created over a period from 1967 to 1974. The Historical Settlement depicts and interprets life in rural New Brunswick in the 19th century. For 48 years, over 3.5 million guests have come to experience history brought to life within a 300-acre site with over 70 historic buildings and through a priceless collection of over 99,000 historical objects.

What you will do

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the successful candidate is responsible for ensuring information pertaining to Kings Landing is communicated to the public online and on-site. They are also responsible for the planning, creation and implementation of various marketing initiatives to educate, attract and engage Kings Landing’s audience. The duties and responsibilities will include:

Develop and implement a marketing strategy based on Kings Landing’s corporate strategy and goals
Plan, capture, create, and publish photo and video assets and written content in both official languages for the KLC channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube and other online social channels, blogs, and marketing materials as needed
Respond to direct messages and act as the primary voice of KLC on all social media platforms
Ensure Kings Landing’s voice messaging service remains up to date with current event information in both official languages
Ensure programming and event details are communicated to guests in a timely manner on-site and externally through signage, printed materials, the website, and various social media and online platforms including Eventbrite and Mailchimp
Identify advertising, partnership, and online opportunities for exposure, visitation growth, and audience engagement
Work with graphic design suppliers, media, tourism partners, and advertising companies where necessary
Work in conjunction with the CEO to write and format corporate communications such as annual plans, annual reports, and press releases
Compile guest feedback from various platforms, responding when necessary, and sharing comments with the appropriate department/team members
Create free, hands-on history lessons to share online in both official languages
Monitor timeframes, manage budget and maintain records
Other related tasks as required
Work Environment

Working in Prince William, New Brunswick, at Kings Landing’s administrative office and on-site as required for 36.25 hours per week
In season (June to October): Can select days of work; availability from Wednesday to Sunday is preferred; other times as required
Off season: Monday through Friday and other times as required
15-month contract with possibility of extension
Who you are

You are a creative, adaptable person who is organized, punctual and engaging. You must be a team player who can lend a hand where needed and work with minimal supervision. You are quick to learn new programs and have an ability to write. You also possess strong interpersonal, communication skills and are self-motivated.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

A combination of education and/or one (1) year experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field or program
Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 software and applications
In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms for business use
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Strong written and spoken competence in English
Nice to have

Experience working with WordPress, Adobe suites, and MailChimp
Experience in marketing and developing experiences
Experience in the tourism and hospitality industry
Photography and videography talent
Wage: To be determined by education and experience
