The New Brunswick Nurses Union (NBNU), representing unionized nursing in New Brunswick, invites applications for the position of Communications Officer. This position requires a seasoned bilingual, enthusiastic, well-organized, and highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:
Working with the leadership team and a communications assistant, you will be responsible for initiating, developing, coordinating, and implementing all NBNU internal and external communications (NBNU’s yearly report to the AGM, website, and social media platforms, working with external entities, etc).
NBNU’s Communications Officer will have a track record of providing expert advice on communications best practices and strategy to senior leadership, as well as being a main driver for successful communications projects. You will be responsible for proactively identifying provincial and national communications needs and provide media relations support to the President, such as drafting media releases, and backgrounders for media events.

Education/Experience:
The successful applicant should have a track record of energizing and organizing successful communications strategies and guiding organizations through media campaigns, as well as an undergraduate degree in Communications or other related field such as journalism, public relations or marketing, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
Knowledge of website design and maintenance is required. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills in both official languages.
Bilingualism is required, knowledge of government relations an asset.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and staff collective agreement.
