The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Career Advisor and Employer Relations Coordinator with the Career Development and Employment Centre. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $44,556 – $55,695 per annum.
Reporting to the Director, CDEC, the Career Advisor and Employer Relations Coordinator (CAERC) provides guidance and coaching through career exploration, career advising, employment readiness, and skills development via one-on-one appointments, presentations, and workshops, both in-person and virtually.

– Collaborate to develop marketing such as campus recruitment, job postings, career fairs, presentations, etc.
– Advocate for UNB community and the critical role played by the CDEC in supporting student success.
– Maintain focus on implementing goals laid out in strategic plans.
– Develop and maintain student/employer databases and research outcomes/statistics.
– Track revenue and expenses associated with employer events and submit regular reports.
– Seek to enhance revenue-generating activities where available and appropriate.
– Manage and review employers and information session submissions to ExperienceUNB and report fraudulent activity.
– Encourage employer use of the ExperienceUNB platform. Act as a point of contact for new employer registrations.
– Update/promote event calendar on ExperienceUNB platform and share information via various platforms/methods.
– Attend local events to develop and maintain strong connections with the employer community. Stay current with local labour market trends.
– Develop, facilitate, and evaluate the success of individual and group career advising sessions.
– Advise students on community resources, government programs, job search techniques, career development, and issues related to unemployment and hiring.
– Identify gaps in resources and career development education. Create material/presentations to address this need.
– Collaborate with team members and campus partners to develop programs and presentations.
– Establish and enhance new and existing employer relationships, coordinate employer outreach activities.
– Design and implement effective networking opportunities to connect students with employers.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
– An undergraduate degree or a combination of education and experience may be considered.
– 5 years of full-time professional experience working in higher education or a workforce/career development field.
– Familiarity with the resources available to students in Student Services.
– Experience in customer service-related roles requiring a demonstration of initiative/ownership to resolve problems.
– Familiarity with Career Development Theory. NB Career Development
Practitioners Certificate an asset.
– Ability to create and maintain professional networks. Ability to work with people of all backgrounds.
– Effective written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
– Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals. Practical problem solving and organizational skills.
– Ability to work independently as well as be a contributing team member.
– Familiarity and experience with O365 apps and social media platforms are essential.
– Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
