POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Finance, reporting to the CEO, plays a major role in ensuring all day-to-day accounting functions within the YMCA of Fredericton are completed. This position provides financial insights and analysis to the association and required committees as assigned by their supervisor.

This position requires a high degree of interaction with both staff and others in management as well as versatility and the ability to help other staff members when needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for completing monthly internal financial reporting, which includes account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Responsible for year-end closing process, including account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
• Responsible for overseeing the financial statement audit process, including assembling and/or preparing required supporting documentation.
• Responsible for the annual budgeting process, including the creation of the budget with input from departments as well as regular budget to actual monitoring.
• Completion of quarterly HST returns.
• Work with year-end auditors and assist in any required duties.
• Prepare and present quarterly financials to the Finance, Audit & Risk Management Committee & Board.
• Prepare all required statutory filings.
• Take responsibility for the safekeeping and updating of all leases and contracts, which may affect the financial status of the association.
• Complete any other work-related task as requested by supervisor.
• Take a leadership role in the Association’s IT & software management.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree in related field or related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Accounting Designation required.  
• Strong working knowledge of excel and word
• Knowledge of Sage300, Raiser’s Edge and ActiveNet considered an asset
• Strong communications skills, and previous experience working with senior management
• Demonstrated competency in accounting regulations and issues
• External reporting experience

• Strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Usually work regular business hours, 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday
• Normal clerical settings such as use of a computer and sitting for extended periods of time.
