Pre-Arrival and NAARs Support Worker

The Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc. (MCAF) is seeking a Pre-Arrival and Needs & Assets Assessment and Referrals (NAARs) Support Worker and we would like to hear from you!

The MCAF Pre-Arrival & NAARs Support worker will support the Lead Pre-arrival & NAARs Worker and will provide newcomers to Canada with pre-arrival services, orientation and referrals to MCAF Services and programs, government and community resources and services. Pre-Arrival and NAARs Sessions are offered in English and French and other languages though interpretation. The position includes intake, needs assessment & referral services in in person and virtually in both official languages to connect newcomers with community partners and MCAF staff & volunteers.  

Key Duties and responsibilities include:
• Respond to initial inquiries about MCAF programs and services from potential clients, community partners and community members;
• Ensure appropriate referral to MCAF services and outside services/organizations. Ensure necessary assistance for clients accessing services, eg.  Complete intake and referral forms to various MCAF services and follow up with clients and appropriate MCAF staff;
• Ensure proper intake & supporting documents are presented by newcomers;
• Facilitate access to interpretation/translation services for MCAF clients when needed;
• Maintain accurate records on completed activities and submit monthly and quarterly reports in accordance with deadlines and program requirements.

• Relevant post-secondary education
• At least 1 year of experience in customer service
• Verbal and written fluency in English and French
• Fluency in other languages (e.g. Swahili, Arabic, Ukrainian, etc.) would be an asset
• Excellent interpersonal, cross cultural, written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to take initiative, be creative and autonomous
• Flexible, patient and interested in helping people
• Proven ability to work well under pressure; outgoing
• Interested in being involved in the community and in supporting people to successfully integrate and participate in Fredericton
• Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications
Terms of employment:
• Contract – renewable pending continuation of funding
• Full time 40 hrs per week- Health benefits, RSP, additional vacation/sick days
• Criminal Record Check Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
• COVID vaccination

• As soon as possible
