FREDERICTON, NB ​– Earlier this month, the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce welcomed Keir Clark of Scotia Wealth Management as its board of directors president for 2017-18. Keir has been a board member since 2012 and part of the executive committee since 2013. He takes over from Paul Simmonds, owner of Robert Simmonds Clothing, who moves into the past president role. 

With his outgoing remarks, Paul spoke about the importance of the chamber living its vision statement – Community Prosperity Through Business. The Fredericton chamber is committed to making Fredericton the best place to live, work and play and that those three are inseparable. Without a healthy economy and business growth, our community is unable to provide the services and amenities that citizens expect and deserve. Keir’s remarks focused on the value that the chamber brings to its membership and the importance of individual members becoming more involved the chamber and the community in general. 

“Paul, along with the entire board of directors and the chamber staff have been excellent stewards of the organization and effective advocates for the business community,” said Clark. “I hope to continue to move the chamber forward for the benefit for our members and the Greater Fredericton community as a whole.” 

2017 provides a unique opportunity for Fredericton and its business community to showcase itself nationally as hosts of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting and conference. The conference, expected to draw 400-500 delegates and guests, will have a significant economic impact on the area. 

“The Canadian chamber AGM and conference is the highlight of the national organization’s calendar each year,” stated Krista Ross, Fredericton Chamber of Commerce CEO. “I know Keir has been looking forward to hosting since we were announced as hosts in 2015.” 

The chamber board also had a number of incoming board members confirmed, replacing members that completed a two- or four-year term. 

The newest members of the chamber board are: Wendy Hallihan, Exit Realty Advantage; Dan Pike, Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy/Liv9 Nutrition; Krishna Khaitan, Aditya Birla Group; Jason White, Altus Group; Jeff Lingley, Rainsford Contracting Ltd.; Ken Critchley, Morneau Sheppell; and Brenda Perrin, Holiday Inn Express & Suites. 

The outgoing board members in 2017 are: Stephen Hill, Elliott McCrea Hill; Charit Khatri, Bulletproof Solutions; Victoria Andrews, CIBC; Dave Watt, The Right Choice Team – Exit Realty Advantage; Jason LeJeune, Isaac’s Way Restaurant; Bronwyn Mulherin, Downtown Optometry Clinic; and Roger Bannister, Retreever Tactical Business Consulting.
