(Fredericton, NB) – The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a post-budget luncheon and discussion with the Hon. Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) and Minister Responsible for New Brunswick. The luncheon will be held on Monday, April 27 starting at
11:45 at the Crowne Plaza Lord Beaverbrook Hotel and is open to the public.
Minister Moore will speak to Canada’s 2015 Economic Action Plan and how it impacts New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.
“With this being the current government’s final budget before the election on October 19th, we expect there to be a lot of interest,” said Krista Ross, chamber CEO. “Obviously the government has been signalling for months that the budget will be balanced, which is great news of course. We are hoping to hear some information that will help small business and grow the economy - which is the best way to keep the government in the black moving forward.”
At the national level, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce has put forward a number of recommendations, which can be found on their website at www.chamber.ca. These recommendations fall into four main categories:
- Increasing the competitiveness of Canadian businesses through research, development, innovation and commercialization.
- Maximizing the number and type of jobs for Canadians.
- Ensuring prosperous and secure communities, through support for infrastructure.
- Improving Canada’s taxation and regulation regimes.
“The Canadian Chamber of Commerce recommendations make a lot of sense for businesses and communities in all regions in Canada,” added Ross. “We are eager to see these implemented by the federal government and look forward to continuing to work with our local representatives and the national chamber.”
Tickets can be purchased on the Fredericton chamber website www.frederictonchamber.ca or by calling the chamber office at (506) 458-8006.
