Fredericton Chamber Launches Questions that Count Municipal Council Candidate Survey

Fredericton Chamber Launches Questions that Count Municipal Council Candidate Survey
For Immediate Release
April 16th, 2012

(Fredericton, NB) – The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has launched a municipal council
candidate survey titled Questions that Count designed to focus attention on the issues that matter
most to the Fredericton business community.

Pre-development work for the survey began in the fall, when the Chamber’s Municipal Affairs Committee surveyed the Fredericton Chamber membership on the issues of greatest interest to the business community. “The survey revealed that issues like economic development, public transit, and infrastructure were at the top of our members’ minds” remarked Krista Ross, CEO of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce. “Since these are the issues that our members care about most,
we wanted to ensure that public dialogue in the lead-up to the municipal election included them.”

Questions were developed by the 9-member committee, which is comprised of representatives from the legal, real estate, engineering, accounting, IT, and non-profit sectors. “We wanted to create an opportunity for all municipal candidates to communicate their ideas on the issues that matter to
Chamber members and to Fredericton residents as a whole” said Roshini Kassie, Community
Outreach Manager for the NB Lung Association and member of the Municipal Affairs Committee.
“We’re looking forward to each candidate’s vision for a prosperous, progressive Fredericton over
the next four years.”

Candidates will have from April 16th -23rd to complete the survey. Beginning April 24th, responses
will be published on the Fredericton Chamber’s website at www.frederictonchamber.ca.
Candidates’ responses will be available to both Chamber members and the general public.
