Gordon Burtt

Gordon Burtt is a respected member of the Fredericton business community and an active, dedicated volunteer who has worked throughout his life to better the lives of those around him. An avid animal advocate, Mr. Burtt has been involved for more than 40 years with the Kindness Club Inc. – a well-known organization devoted to humane education – and has long served on, and is now President of, the Board of the Beatrice Watson-Acheson Foundation, an organization that educates elementary and middle school children to teach animals with empathy and compassion. Mr. Burtt has also frequently partnered with other community organizations to assist in their fundraising campaigns: over the course of 14 years he and his wife Carol cleaned and distributed 10,000 coats to needy families through the Salvation Army’s “Coats for Kids” initiative, and he has offered free or generously discounted bowling to numerous charities and community organizations at his Main Street Bowl-A-Drome facility. A quiet man who has never sought public recognition for either his business successes or his community service, and who has dedicated time, resources, and effort to assist the disadvantaged members of his community, Gordon Burtt is a genuine example of what is meant by distinguished citizen.
