COMMITTEES

Want to Get More Involved with Your Chamber and Help Make Fredericton the Best Place to do Business? Join a Chamber Committee!

We’re looking for volunteers interested in strengthening Fredericton’s business community. And this year, we have more opportunities than ever for you to make an impact.

Whether you’re interested in policy, advocacy and the economy, or events, networking, and communications, we’ve created new ways for members to guide how the chamber develops policy, advocates to government, and connects business:

Government Affairs Committee
From participating in meetings with our local caucus to helping us develop an annual set of recommendations for the provincial budget, members of this committee help us stay on top of political news and events at the provincial and federal level.

Economic Development Committee
Working closely with our economic development and community partners, volunteers for this committee will tackle the issues that local business owners identify as priorities in our annual member survey.

New Member Welcome Committee
Our membership is growing, and we want to make sure that our newest members feel welcome and are familiar with all the benefits of their membership. Volunteers for this committee will make personal visits to new members, greet members at networking events, and educate members on the how to take full advantage of their membership.

President’s Committee on Physician Recruitment
Fredericton continues to experience an alarming physician shortage, a situation that makes it difficult for us to attract and retain the skilled people we need to grow and sustain our economy. Working with our partners at Horizon Health, members of this committee will welcome new physicians and residents to the community and advocate for policies that make our city an attractive place to practice medicine.

Municipal Affairs Committee – NEW!
This is a municipal election year, so we’re looking for members interested in helping us identify the issues that will be most important to our local business community when it comes time to go to the polls. Members of this committee will also work on developing a brief to City Council and build relationships with City staff and Council.

Communications Advisory Committee
Staying in touch with our 900+ members is one of our top priorities, and we’re always working to improve how we communicate with you. Members of this committee will advise us on how best to reach our members via email, web, and social media, as well as contribute to special projects.

Events & Networking Committee
Connecting members is one of the things we do best, and we want to ensure we continue to offer the best networking opportunities in Fredericton. As part of this committee you will provide feedback on our networking options and events schedule, as well as make suggestions for new ways for our members to connect.
. Education Committee
As a committee of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, this group is tasked with the responsibility of supporting the Event Manager and providing feedback on our educational opportunities. The interests of the members as determined by our annual survey are taken into consideration as well as the types of training delivery. Committee members are also asked to make suggestions for possible unique venues to host the educational events and to suggest possible speakers and topics of interest to our members. This committee is co-chaired by two board members or a board member and another Chamber member.
